Rental Market

September 28, 2011 - Updated: September 28, 2011

There are so many interesting facts which are overlooked in the rental market.  It's hard to imagine over 1 million people currently rent in Ontario.

Did you know in Toronto, if you rent from a landlord who's property was built after November 1st, 1991, there's no 'cap' on rental increases from year to year?  Or, after reading your rental agreement you read you aren't allowed to have a pet dog, did you know you can move your dog in after the rental agreement is signed?  There's nothing the landlord can do to the pet after its in the house; assuming your pet isn't destructive or causing disruptions to the other tenants?

The Residential Tenancies Act has so much information, its very important to consult with a professional to understand what rights you have.
